Many of Mary Baker Eddy’s followers gave generously in response to one of her leading philanthropic gifts: to provide a church home in Concord, the capital city of her native state, for those worshiping Spirit. (First Church of Christ, Scientist and Miscellany, Mary Baker Eddy, p. 163:28).
